climb  /klam/  v. 1 [I;T] to move upward: The airplane took off and climbed above (or) climbed up above the clouds.||Prices climbed higher on the stock exchange. 2 [I] to rise slowly and steadily in power, rank, etc.: He climbed from selling newspapers on the street to owning several newspaper companies. 3 [I] to slant up: The ground climbed steadily toward the mountains. 4 phrasal v. insep.
